Who we are
Range Wrestling Academy was founded with a simple belief:
Every athlete deserves access to opportunity, mentorship, and a place to belong — regardless of geography or background.
In many rural communities, access to structured athletic development is limited. Our academy exists to change that.
Our Purpose
Why We Exist
We use wrestling to:
Build strong, resilient athletes
Develop confidence and accountability
Create positive pathways for youth
Strengthen community through shared effort
Wrestling is one of the toughest sports in the world — and that’s exactly why it works. It teaches responsibility, grit, and self-belief in a way few activities can.
Our Approach
How We Train
At Range Wrestling Academy, we emphasize:
Proper fundamentals and safe progression
Mental toughness and emotional control
Respect for coaches, teammates, and opponents
Growth through challenge, not shortcuts
Wins matter — but who our athletes become matters more.
Community Roots
Built By and For the Community
This academy is powered by:
Families who show up
Coaches who care
Volunteers who believe
Supporters who invest in youth
We are proud to represent the Iron Range and surrounding rural communities, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Looking Ahead
The Future of Range Wrestling Academy
As we grow, our goals include:
Expanding training opportunities
Developing a permanent training facility
Increasing travel and competition access
Creating sustainable funding through sponsorships and merchandise
Everything we build is designed to last — and to serve the next generation even better than the last.

Our Founding Story
How Range Wrestling Academy Began
Range Wrestling Academy was founded out of a simple but powerful realization:
Too many kids in our rural communities were willing to work hard — but didn’t always have access to consistent opportunity.
Like many families across the Iron Range, we saw young athletes with potential, heart, and toughness. What they needed was a place that combined structured training, positive mentorship, and a true sense of belonging — without requiring families to travel hours or leave their community behind.
Range Wrestling Academy began as a grassroots effort. Practices were built around borrowed mat time, shared resources, volunteer coaching, and families willing to show up week after week. There was no shortcut and no guarantee — just a commitment to doing things the right way.
From the beginning, the goal was never just to build better wrestlers.
It was to build:
Confidence in kids who needed it
Discipline in athletes learning responsibility
Resilience through hard practices and honest effort
Community through shared challenge
As participation grew, so did the vision. What started as a small group of athletes quickly became a community-centered academy — one where beginners train alongside experienced competitors, where effort is celebrated, and where every athlete is expected to support their teammates.
Today, Range Wrestling Academy stands as proof that high-quality athletic development can thrive in rural communities when people believe in the mission and invest in their youth.
And this is only the beginning.
Our Permanent Training Facility
Building a Home for the Next Generation
Range Wrestling Academy is working toward a permanent training facility — a dedicated space designed to serve athletes, families, and the community for years to come.
For rural programs, access to consistent, high-quality space is often one of the biggest barriers to growth. A permanent location will allow us to expand training opportunities, reduce scheduling limitations, and create a safe, structured environment where athletes can train year-round.
This facility is not just about wrestling — it’s about stability, access, and long-term impact.
Why a Permanent Facility Matters
A dedicated training space will allow us to:
Offer consistent practice schedules without shared space conflicts
Expand youth and developmental programming
Provide safer, better-equipped training conditions
Host community events, clinics, and local competitions
Reduce travel barriers for families across the region
Most importantly, it creates a place where athletes know they belong — a home they can return to season after season.
A Community-Focused Project
This building project is rooted in the same values that built the academy:
Grassroots effort
Community partnerships
Responsible growth
Our vision is to develop a functional, welcoming space that reflects the work ethic and pride of the Iron Range. This includes thoughtful planning, sustainable costs, and a commitment to ensuring the facility remains accessible to families of all backgrounds.
How You Can Be Part of the Build
The success of this project depends on community support. Opportunities to get involved include:
Financial contributions and sponsorships
In-kind donations of materials or services
Volunteer labor and project support
Local business partnerships
Every contribution — large or small — helps move this vision closer to reality.
